Sustainable Industry Chain

Goldwind places great importance on the environmental and social impact of its products and services throughout the entire product life cycle. We prioritize sustainable development in all procedures such as R&D, design, part procurement, manufacturing, installation, O&M and after-service. Additionally, we organize sustainable development practical activities to lead the sustainable transformation and upgrading of the industry and build industrial chains featuring sustainable and clean energy, energy conservation and environmental protection.

Sustainable Development Goals Regarding Sustainable Industry Chain

In 2023, the social responsibility audit rate of major parts suppliers (manufacturing) of wind turbines will be
100 %
By 2025, the share of green power consumption of the main suppliers in the production of Goldwind products will reach
100 %

Responsible Procurement

At Goldwind, we are dedicated to establishing win-win and long-term mutually beneficial cooperation with suppliers and adhering to moral and business rules to ensure fair operation, protect the legitimate rights and interests of suppliers and seek mutual growth with them. We strive for mutual growth by guiding our suppliers towards sustainable development. Through ongoing communication and cooperation with our suppliers, we actively promote social responsibility management and facilitate the transition towards low-carbon practices, fostering the healthy and green development of our supply chains.

The company upholds the values of “being transparent, healthy and orderly” and the procurement principle of “fairness, justice, equality, voluntariness and free negotiation”. The procurement is strictly subject to relevant systems and requirements to protect the legitimate rights and interests of suppliers and ensure legality and compliance. To improve the digital management of the procurement process, the company has developed and launched the supplier life cycle management platform to ensure the compliance, fairness and transparency of the procurement process based on unified correlation standards for categories.

Management of Suppliers’ Social Responsibility

Goldwind attaches great importance to the management of suppliers’ social responsibilities. According to the SA8000 Social Accountability Management System Certificate, ISO26000 Social Responsibility, Responsible Business Alliance (RBA) Code of Conduct and other standards, the company has formulated the Code of Conduct for Suppliers' Social Responsibility [website content with desensitized system link] (the Code). The code has specified the requirements on employees' rights and interests, health and safety, environment, business ethics and management system and incorporated them into the supply framework contract. It also requires suppliers to sign the Letter of Commitment for Social Responsibility to indicate that they agree to the contents of the Code.

To evaluate suppliers' adherence to these standards, Goldwind has established a supplier social responsibility assessment system. The system comprehensively assesses suppliers in terms of employees' rights and interests protection, health and safety, environment, business ethics and management system through supplier's self-inspection and the company's spot check and then grades the suppliers based on the assessment results. The company has expanded the scope of audit and increased the number of suppliers to be audited year by year. In order to ensure impartiality and expertise, a third-party professional organization is contracted to conduct an initial audit for core components such as the blades, castings, bearings, and generators as well as those major suppliers with a large procurement amount.

During the audit, if the company discovers that the suppliers have faced penalties from the labor inspection department due to forced labor and child labor or bribery of Goldwind employees, or got involved in other serious issues, they will be directly judged as unqualified. As a result, the cooperation between them and Goldwind will be suspended and relevant suppliers shall make adjustments accordingly. If suppliers are found to be involved in issues regarding child labor prevention, identification and rescue, provision of a humanitarian working environment, establishment of working procedures to avoid discrimination against employees and management of conflict minerals, they will be required to make rectification within 2 months, analyze the reasons and take corrective measures until their issues are solved. If other general issues are found, the suppliers will be required to make rectifications within 3 months. Failure to comply within the given timeframe will result in their removal from the list of qualified suppliers, and their cooperation with Goldwind will be terminated.

The company actively guides and encourages suppliers to improve their management, conducts social responsibility awareness popularization and capacity building activities, and helps suppliers establish and improve their social responsibility management system. This is done to mitigate the social responsibility risks of the company's supply chain and upstream suppliers. At the annual supplier conference and other related meetings and forums, Goldwind introduces the requirements of social responsibility evaluation, the main methods, paths and objectives of supplier social responsibility management, explains the Code of Conduct for Suppliers' Social Responsibility, the social responsibility assessment system and relevant supervision mechanism. The company shares this knowledge with suppliers during on-site audits of their social responsibility practices.

Green Supply Chain

Since 2016, Goldwind has taken the lead in implementing the "Green Supply Chain" project in the industry. Our main focus has been improving the overall environmental performance of its wind power industry chain. We have actively promoted green design, procurement, production and delivery, building a green wind power supply chain covering all processes, chains and links. By continuously improving our assessment standards, conducting comprehensive assessments of our suppliers, and helping them improve themselves, we are working towards the green and low-carbon transformation of our supply chain.

Our company has developed the Assessment Standard for Green Suppliers to assess the performance of suppliers of core components such as blades, generators, bearings, castings and towers regarding the use of green energy, energy conservation, emission reduction and environmental protection. Priorities will be given to suppliers with a high proportion of green electricity use to encourage them to increase their share of green power.

Recycling of Wind Turbine

Goldwind actively promotes resource recycling processes throughout production and operation. We build a wind turbine recycling system and a service network for old turbine recycling and logistics transportation based on the R&D and manufacturing of wind turbines and service sites nationwide. By improving the recycling and processing of turbine components and establishing sales channels for retrofitted equipment, we have established an ecological closed-loop system for the recycling and remanufacturing of used turbines.

Our company operates remanufacturing technology development centers and service centers, which follow a systematic process that includes the recycling of used components, logistics and transportation, cleaning and dismantling, technology development, process standards, detection and testing for wide applications. These centers provide advanced technologies and monitoring equipment to other companies in the wind turbine industry, helping them improve the utilization efficiency of wind turbine inventory. The residual value of the turbine and its core components can be improved through “recycling for reuse + component classification and recycling”.

Environment-friendly Wind Turbines

Goldwind has developed and manufactured wind turbines with lower emissions to promote global energy transformation and deal with climate change. The company integrates environmental protection throughout the entire process of R&D, design, procurement, production, installation, and O&M of wind turbines. Through technological innovation and process optimization, we have successfully created environmentally friendly wind turbines.

Furthermore, we consistently conduct life cycle assessments (LCA) of wind turbines. This allows us to analyze the environmental impact factors of wind turbines in the whole life cycle. By identifying opportunities for improving the environmental performance of wind turbines in different stages, we take optimization measures to minimize the adverse impact of wind power on the environment.
