Goldwind has signed a cooperation contract with ENGIE Chile to supply 22 units of GWH182-7.5MW wind turbines for the Pemuco Wind Farm. Located 47km south of Chillán, Chile, the project has a total installed capacity of 165MW and is the first wind farm in the Ñuble Region. According to estimates, the green power generated upon commissioning will meet the electricity needs of 100,000 households in southern Chile and reduce CO2 emissions by 40,000 tons annually.

Chile has set an ambitious national goal of achieving carbon neutrality by 2050. By 2030, renewable energy is expected to account for 80% of total electricity generation, and all coal-fired power plants will be retired by 2040. As an important component of renewable energy, wind energy is central to Chile's green development strategy.

The Chilean market places stringent ESG requirements on wind turbines, encompassing energy efficiency, operational safety, ecological protection, supply chain compliance, and corporate governance, with an emphasis on alignment with the Paris Agreement‌. The GWH182-7.5MW turbine supplied to the Pemuco project is the largest single-unit capacity wind turbine ever deployed in the region, and the first 18X-class onshore wind turbine worldwide to obtain DNV type certification. It has also been awarded an Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) under the EPD Italy system by ICMQ, with a lifecycle carbon intensity of just 3.72 grams of CO2-equivalent per kWh, approximately only 0.45% of typical coal-fired power emissions.

The project adopts 140m segmented tower technology, which allows the tower to be transported in multiple modules for on-site assembly. This approach accommodates varying transportation conditions, including stacked transport on standard routes and single-piece delivery in complex terrain, overcoming traditional tower logistics limitations and reducing engineering costs.

Since entering the Chilean market in 2013, Goldwind has maintained a strong localization strategy, dedicated to delivering high-performance wind turbines and advanced power system solutions tailored to local needs. By establishing a localized service team, Goldwind ensures quick response to diverse customer needs, enabling smooth project execution and stable operations.

Chile's wind conditions are unique and geographically complex, with frequent seismic activity that places high demands on wind turbine stability and design. In December 2024, Goldwind and ENGIE Chile successfully completed the full turbine installation at the Lomas de Taltal Wind Project located in the Atacama Desert, known as the "driest place on Earth" and a natural laboratory for comparing Earth and Martian environments. Facing extreme drought, large temperature differences, high radiation, and barren ecology, Goldwind successfully installed 57 units of GW165-6.0MW turbines at this site, totaling 342MW in capacity. With high reliability and customized design, the turbines overcame the challenges posed by the extreme environment, enabling the project's successful delivery and stable operation. Goldwind's business in South America now spans eight countries, with over 1.8GW of cumulative installed capacity and more than 1.37GW under operation and maintenance. Through successful practices in countries such as Chile, Brazil, and Argentina, Goldwind has not only accumulated extensive experience in technology and service delivery, but also, by implementing a localization strategy, created substantial employment opportunities and contributed to the sustainable development of regional economies. Looking ahead, Goldwind will collaborate with more partners, leveraging full-industry-chain collaborative innovation to accelerate the large-scale deployment of renewable energy across more regions. By continuously unlocking the substitution potential of green power for traditional energy, the company aims to inject strong momentum into building a more resilient climate governance system‌.
