GoldWRF, a virtual met mast product developed by Goldwind, has recently received a third-party certificate Statement of Compliance (SOC) issued by Underwriter Laboratories Inc. (UL). It is the first virtual met mast product to obtain a third-party certification.
In the UL certification report, GoldWRF’s simulation data is evaluated from various aspects, including data evaluation indicators (wind speed deviation, RMSE, MAE and R2), daily and monthly wind speed variation, wind speed distribution (cumulative distribution, wind frequency distribution and duration curve), hourly wind speed change distribution and wind rose. The conclusion is that GoldWRF performs well in terms of the times series of hourly data compared to the ERA5 and MERRA2 reanalysis datasets, and reflects more realistic wind resource conditions.
Goldwind has been committed to solving the pain points in the early development of wind farms, such as lack of met masts and insufficient data from met masts. GoldWRF specializes in tackling these issues, and the technology has been applied to more than 100 wind resource assessment projects, covering over 20 provinces and various terrains in Henan, Inner Mongolia, Jiangsu, Jiangxi, Liaoning, Ningxia, Shandong, Guangxi, Qinghai, etc. It is well received by customers.
About GoldWRF
GoldWRF is a virtual met mast technology customized for wind resource simulation of wind farms, developed by the wind resources and meteorological team of Goldwind. The technology is based on the widely used numerical weather prediction model WRF (Weather Research and Forecasting Model), and relies on powerful super-calculation platform and the Amazon cloud platform, aiming to solve problems in the early development of wind farms, such as lack of met masts and insufficient data from met masts. GoldWRF makes use of refined terrains, selects optimal parameterization scheme based on China’s regional features, and develops post-processing methods for different scenarios. It also features data assimilation and pattern collection techniques to achieve accurate simulation of wind resources.
