Recently, Goldwind and UL held a two-day closed-door technical forum at UL China Headquarters in Suzhou. The technical teams of both sides conducted project review and had in-depth exchange on many hot topics, such as safety certification in the global market, type certification and EMC compliance, site-specific assessment and project certification, R&D testing for offshore wind turbine, laboratory capability comparison, requirements and interpretation of IEC RE new standards, wind turbine power curve analysis and capacity assessment, etc. At the forum, both sides worked out a joint action plan to deepen cooperation and seek common development in the future.
Goldwind and UL have over 10 years of cooperation, from the early 1.5 MW wind turbine to the current offshore large megawatt wind turbine, the two sides have completed much work, including type testing of prototype, design verification, wind resources and consulting.
At the beginning of this year, during the R&D and type testing of offshore 6.X MW wind turbine prototype for Fujian Xinghua Bay project, Goldwind and UL used nacelle-mounted lidar in the testing for type certification for the first time and successfully solved the wind measurement problem in the type certification of offshore wind turbines. This achievement was well recognized by international and domestic certification bodies and successfully obtained the domestic and international type certification.
The two sides have also continued a good momentum of cooperation in the international market.
In 2018, Goldwind completed the testing and certification of the first smart turbine of GW 3.0 MW (S) platform at a cooperative wind farm of UL in the United States, effectively enhancing the global competitiveness of China's wind turbine products.
