Goldwind South America, Sao paulo-based subsidiary of Xinjiang Goldwind Science & Technology Co., Ltd. (Goldwind) (SZSE: 002202) (HK: 2208), announces that Punta Sierra wind farm comes into commercial operation.
Punta Sierra wind farm is located approximately 316 km north of Santiago, Chile, with a total capacity of 82MW. The wind farm comprises up to 32 Goldwind advanced technology 2.5MW turbines. Once in operation, Punta Sierra will produce clean energy to power approximately 170,000 Chilean homes.
“Punta Sierra is the second park in the country where Goldwind succeed operating its turbines. The first, Cuel wind farm in Negrete, runs 22 turbines of Goldwind 1.5MW and is in operations since February 2014,” said Liang Xuan, General manager of Goldwind South America. “Chile is one of our most important wind markets in South America.These two wind farms have helped Goldwind set up a solid foot print in the region and further help on our local employment of wind power engineers and social contribution.
Goldwind now runs 3 operational local companies as well as service centers in Brazil, Argentina and Chile to support its South America business.
