CHICAGO (May 11, 2018) – Goldwind Americas, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Xinjiang Goldwind Science & Technology Co., Ltd., (Goldwind) (SZSE: 002202) (HK: 2208), participated in North America’s largest wind power exhibition, American Wind Energy Association (AWEA) Windpower 2018 in Chicago, Illinois. During the week-long event Goldwind, a significant exhibitor at the show, welcomed thousands of guests to its booth and made a special announcement regarding its scalable 3MW(S) turbine prototype, currently the tallest installed turbine in the United States.
To kick off the show, Goldwind International Deputy General Manager Andreas Dupuis, participated in Recharge News’ Thought Leaders Roundtable “Digitization & U.S. Wind”, at Loyola University Chicago. During his presentation and discussion with fellow panelists, Mr. Dupuis discussed the role that big data and continuous digitization plays in the long-term profitability of wind farms. Mr. Dupuis adds, “Goldwind has a long history and experience in data collection of own windfarms (>4 GW). It’s time to replace ‘island-solutions’ with ‘big data’ and ‘smart applications’. As a company, we are generating more accurate forecasting and profitable operations in all related business areas as a result of strategic digitization measures.”
Over the course of the show, Goldwind exhibited along-side hundreds of other exhibitors at the show hosted at McCormick Place in Chicago, the North American headquarters of Goldwind. On Tuesday, Goldwind hosted a press conference at its booth to announce the final installation and comissioning of its onshore GW 3MW(S) prototype at the UL Advanced Wind Turbine Test Facility at West Texas A&M Univeristy in Canyon, Texas, USA. At the press conference, senior executives from Goldwind’s collaborators in the project – Broadwind Energy, Anderson Trucking Service, Wanzek Construction, West Texas A&M University, and UL – all spoke about the significance of this project in the U.S.
Goldwind Americas CEO David Sale said in the press conference, “The installation of Goldwind’s 3S prototype serves as an important milestone for Goldwind Americas and its global strategy to commercialize Goldwind’s turbine technology in the U.S. and abroad. The scalable 3-megawatt wind turbine, named Best in Class by Windpower Monthly, underscores Goldwind’s dedication to the continuous innovation of its product offerings.”
In addition to the press conference, Mr. Sale participated in the Large Turbine Manufacturers Forum hosted by AWEA. Alongside senior executives at GE, Nordex/Acciona, Siemens Gamesa and Vestas, Mr. Sale reiterated Goldwind’s strong commitment to the North American market and to providing best-in-class turbines to customers. “Goldwind has a commitment to internationalism and this is an important market for the company. The U.S. market is a competitive market but as a company our dedication to our success in North America is unwavering.”
In North America, Goldwind participates in AWEA Windpower, Mexico Winpower and the CanWEA Conference & Exhibition. More than 50 Goldwind employees from the U.S. and China participated in the show – taking meetings, attending sessions and greeting potential vendors and clients at its large-scale exhibition booth. Goldwind looks forward to the remaining shows it will participate in during 2018 and is already preparing for a successful AWEA Windpower in 2019 in Houston, Texas, USA.
