September 16th, 2021 – A group of global leaders from across the renewable energy value chain and the sector’s innovation ecosystem today launched a new organization to ensure renewables are wholly sustainable for people and the planet and lead a just transition away from fossil fuels.
The partners, united in a shared vision for the sustainability of the renewables industry and the need to take concrete, collaborative action, have come together to create the Global Alliance for Sustainable Energy. The initiative, launched today in a virtual event, is unique in its scope and ambition, representing the founding members’ joint response to the urgent need to decarbonize the global energy system while ensuring its sustainability from an environmental, social and governance (ESG) perspective.
The Global Alliance for Sustainable Energy brings together utility companies from diverse geographies, major manufacturers in the wind power and solar PV supply chains as well as sector associations and innovation partners. The 17 founding members are, in alphabetical order: 3M, Adani Green Energy Ltd., EDP, Eletrobras, Enel Green Power, Global Solar Council, Global Wind Energy Council, Goldwind, Iberdrola, JA Solar, Nordex Group, NTPC Limited, Politecnico di Milano, Politecnico di Torino, ReNew Power, Risen Energy and Trina Solar.
As a founding member, Goldwind made its presence in the virtual launch event of the Alliance. Wu Kai, Vice President of Goldwind joined a panel discussion and delivered a speech. “With the goal of promoting the sustainable development and building a better life, Goldwind integrates the concept of sustainability into our whole business process. Whilst tightening strengthening our own business operations and management, we work together with global major suppliers to drive the green concept through win-win cooperation.” said Wu Kai, “Goldwind will devote ourselves to contribute to the world with green energy, and clean air and clean water.”
In the future, Goldwind will create a synergy in the Alliance through tie-ups with other members therein. Taking more strategic and ambitious actions in sustainability focused on cooperation and innovation, it is expected to lead the world’s renewable energy industry with sustainability.
