On April 26, 2024, Goldwind Science & Technology signed a pertinent agreement with General Electric (GE) in Camaçari, Bahia State, Brazil, finalizing the acquisition of Goldwind's first overseas wind turbine manufacturing plant, which is Goldwind’s first overseas wind turbine manufacturing plant outside China. This move underscores a pivotal stride in Goldwind's global strategic development.
With unwavering confidence in Brazil's enduring wind power market prosperity, Goldwind has committed to investing in both the manufacturing plant and the enhancement of the supply chain. The manufacturing plant is expected to be fully equipped for serial production by the end of 2024. Equipment produced at this plant will meet the localization requirements of the Brazilian Development Bank (BNDES), offering clients easier access to BNDES's long-term financing. Through localized production, Goldwind is positioned to further enhance the wind power supply chain, providing steady support for Brazil’s green development goals.
Looking forward, the manufacturing plant is expected to create more than 100 direct employments and over 1000 indirect jobs in the Camaçari area, contributing to the optimization of local employment structures. In addition to assembling a localized team, Goldwind leverages its rich experience in the field of wind power training to enhance the professional technical skills of local community, fostering new energy talent and promoting the optimization and upgrading of local renewable energy sector.
As a great power in the region, Brazil is actively engaged in green development, with the goal of achieving net-zero emissions by 2060. Goldwind, as a reliable global strategic partner in clean energy, with many years of experience in Brazil's wind power business, assisting the country's energy transition. As of now, Goldwind has accumulated installed capacity of 662MW in Brazil. In the future, installed capacity in Brazil will exceed 1 GW. These projects are distributed across the states Ceará, Piauí, and Bahia among others.
