Recently in Manila, Philippines, Goldwind has signed an agreement with The Blue Circle (TBC), a leading renewable energy company in Southeast Asia, to undertake the Kalayaan 2 Wind Power Project. This project, with a total installed capacity of 100.8 MW, signifies Goldwind's official foray into the Philippine market, thereby extending its global reach to 40 countries across six continents.
Situated in Laguna Province, the Kalayaan 2 Project will be equipped with 17 GW165-6.0MW wind turbines. Goldwind is responsible for the equipment supply, transportation, installation, and commissioning, and a ten-year comprehensive operation and maintenance service for the project. TBC, the project owner, operates as a multinational power corporation with business in countries including Singapore, Vietnam, Thailand, and Cambodia. It is dedicated to promoting renewable energy development in ASEAN nations. The partnership with Goldwind is expected to yield mutual benefits as both parties strive to propel the energy transition.
In recent years, the Philippines has introduced a series of legislations and policies supportive of renewable energy development. The National Renewable Energy Program (2020-2040) by the Department of Energy (DOE) of the Philippines outlines targets for renewable energy to account for 35% of total power generation by 2030 and reach 50% by 2040. At the Energy China Offshore Wind Forum 2023, Alfredo Pascual, Minister of the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) of the Philippines, highlighted the growing demand for green energy in the country and embraced Chinese investments in the renewable energy sector.
Dong Yinming, General Manager of Goldwind Asia, expressed his gratitude for TBC's trust and support and emphasized that the agreement is not only a business deal but also solidifies a long-term partnership. Goldwind is dedicated to supporting TBC in achieving its goals and accelerating the Philippines' renewable energy aspirations.
Olivier Duguet, CEO of TBC, also expressed high anticipation for the collaboration, underscoring the significance of the Kalayaan 2 Project as it represents a new milestone for TBC in the Philippine market. He thanked Goldwind for providing comprehensive solutions for the project and looked forward to deepening the cooperation.
